JEC Composites Innovation Awards

Exciting update – our DLR Innovation Lab EmpowerAX project, in collaboration with our 12 industrial partners, has been awarded the JEC World Innovation Award 2024 in the category Aerospace Process!

The consortium was recognised for its EmpowerAX demo part, which demonstrated the additive functionalism of a multi-curved shell. Together, we demonstrated the ability to overprint a multi-curved thermoset shell with high performance short and continuous fibre reinforced thermoplastics. This innovative approach combines cost-effective composite manufacturing with the agility and design freedom of additive manufacturing.

A heartfelt appreciation to our EmpowerAX team and the DLR Innovation Lab for their unwavering effort, shared vision, and dedication, integral to achieving this milestone.
